What is the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?

This is the name given to the document describing the energy characteristics of a building, home, or apartment; it therefore represents a monitoring tool that summarizes, on a scale from A to G, the energy performance of buildings. When purchasing or renting a property, in addition to being mandatory, it is therefore an important tool for providing information on energy consumption and increasing the economic value of highly energy-efficient buildings.

The APE therefore contains the "energy rating" that summarizes the property's energy characteristics, to measure which the technician must analyze the thermo-hygrometric specifications, consumption, hot water production, cooling and heating of the rooms, the type of system, as well as any renewable energy production systems.

The certificate, which if accompanied by a system logbook, is valid for ten years, must contain, in addition to the certificate's issuance data, the property's cadastral data and, if the home is being sold or a new lease is being signed to find a tenant, the energy performance index (EPI) of the building envelope and the overall building or property unit, and the corresponding energy class.
